The only 2002 I tasted here was the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva’s Vineyard VSR. This stunning effort possesses a Bordeaux-like structure, but the extraordinary ripeness and richness that only comes from Napa fruit. Its dense purple color is followed by sweet aromas of creme de cassis, smoke, coffee, and chocolate. With loads of flavor, a voluptuous palate, supple tannin, and a sensational finish with notes of scorched earth, flowers, licorice, and spice box, this stunning Cabernet should be at its peak between 2007-2018. This is an impressive newcomer that merits serious attention. - Robert Parker

Aromas of clove, jasmine and fruit blossoms in the nose frame vibrant currant and blueberry. There is a decided elegance to the wine with excellent tannins. The palate provides balanced flavors of black cherry with tantalizing hints of red fruits that lead to a long finish.

The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva's Vineyard VSR reveals more suppleness than the Jake's Creek along with impressive ripeness, beautiful floral, blueberry, blackberry, currant, and scorched earth aromas, soft tannin, and an alluring charm that provides near-term appeal. It's a big Cabernet, but is more fleshy and upfront than its sibling. It should drink well for 15 years. - Robert Parker

A nose oozing with aromas of chocolate brownie, super-rich shadings of tobacco, creme brulee and spicy java. The palate is concentrated with distinctive black cherry, tea and black fruits. Beautiful acidity for aging.

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva's Vineyard VSR reveals notes of white flowers interwoven with black fruits, spicy oak, scorched earth, and coffee characteristics. With good fruit, medium to full body, and a long, heady finish, it is a strong effort for a vintage that produced enormously charming and upfront wines that often lacked enough depth to be considered great. - Robert Parker

The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Jake's Creek Vineyard is a bigger, plumper effort than the 2003 displaying the vintage's supple, flashy, fruit-forward style. It possesses an opaque purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of creme de cassis, chocolate, licorice, and high quality toasty oak. It is fat and rich, with enough underlying tannin and acidity to keep things in focus. This cuvee will be bottled without fining or filtration after spending 19-20 months in new French oak. -Robert Parker

The deep ruby/purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Lakeview Vineyard (the 2003 was not offered for tasting) lacks the charm of the Treva's Vineyard and the concentration of the Jake's Creek. A more austere, angular effort, it is deep, rich, and promising, but youthful and backward at this stage of development. It will be interesting to retaste it from bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2018. -Robert Parker
